What a beautiful day to be crossing the Channel, we have just arrived in France and are on our way to Lille .....more later!

Friday Flowers and the Bluebirds of Happiness

You will know by now that I love treasure hunting at any available oppurtunity. This Tuesday was one of those days.......up at 5.00 and out of the house at 5.50 to be there when the gates opened at 6.30.

The anticipation, the excitement of spotting a treasure and the satisfaction at securing it for the right price.
So it happened when I saw these Swallow book ends.

Swallows........I love Swallows.
Blue..........I love Blue.
Distressed..........I love things with a history.
Price.........Perfect.

Now home with me and providing a supporting act for Friday Flowers.........or perhaps not?

I'm off on my big adventure this weekend, to La Braderie in Lille..........if I find treasure it will be a bonus......I just want to experience the utter madness. I'll try and keep in touch here and on facebook via my phone.

Friday Flowers

I must admit that I have never bought a vase or jug to match a particular flower.....but there is always a first time........and this was it.

I made a visit to a large garden centre about half an hours drive from me, where I know they have a huge cold room stuffed full of cut flowers. I fell in love with the colours of this Hydranges head, blues, greens and duck egg, most extraordinary and beautiful. Before I left I had a quick look around their china and glass department and the jug was waiting for me.........a match made in heaven!
