Friday Flowers

After the freezing and grey weather we have been having I'm feeling in the need of warmth and thought these Ranunculas might just fit the bill..........those colours! You could almost warm your hands on them!

Wishing you all a very happy Easter weekend.

Friday Flowers

Is anyone else pining for Spring? For a bit of warm sunshine, pale blue skies and green buds bursting, it seems we'll have to wait a while longer.
In the meantime a flower that promises warmer days......Daucus carota, the dark cousin of Ammi Majus, Bishop's weed or Queen Anne's Lace. Pretty isn't it?

I'm away exhibiting at a Dollshouse Fair this weekend, Miniatura at the NEC in Birmingham.....there's talk of snow....... wish me luck!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend despite the weather

Friday Flowers, Easter Bunnies and a Dream Come True

A glimpse of Narcissus this week, but centre stage are the decorated eggs I was asked to create for the new e-magazine Garden Life Love. Imagine my delight and apprehension when approached to come up with ideas for decorating eggs for Easter, not only was I to make them, but photograph them and write the instructions!!
There are more decorated with lace and buttons and decoupaged then adorned with twinkling gems, but these rabbits and their fluffy little friends make me smile......hope they make you smile too!

That was some months ago now and finally the magazine was launched this week. I'm so delighted to be a part of this beautiful new magazine......a dream come true.
If you look to the right in the sidebar of this blog you will see a picture of the front cover....click on this and you can look at a 20 page preview or buy the magazine for £3.80 and have 150 pages of wonderful pictures and interesting articles that you can go back to again and again. There really is something for everyone......beautiful gardens, gardening, recipes, crafts, and lots more.

And just in case this is sounding like a self promotion exercise.....here are more Friday Flowers.......tete a tete daffodils and a vintage watering can.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Friday Flowers

Glowing Ranunculus....tissue paper like flowers with hundreds of petals set against a background of a familiar pattern, but unusually not in blue and white china.
I found this "Willow Pattern" plate just as I was leaving my favourite antiques fair. A last look on a stand by the door and caught a glimpse of two birds.

Further investigation revealed this metal platter, hand made in about 1870 with a wonderful patina.

It would look better with a good clean said the stallholder as I handed over the purchase price.......Never, I said to myself as I left clutching my prize!!!

We had two days of wonderful sunshine this week, and now its back to rain, grey and cold. But there are signs that Spring is on its way....aren't there?

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, welcome to all my new followers and thank you to everyone for looking at my pictures every week. I hope they give you as much pleasure as they give me when I'm taking them.

Friday Flowers

Beautiful Helleborus also known as Christmas roses and Lenten Roses as they bloom between Christmas and Easter. Usually their beautiful faces point downwards but these obligingly looked up to have their picture taken.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
