Friday Flowers

Actually to be precise they are Monday Flowers, let me explain......This Monday I had the most fabulous day out at a florist in Hungerford, Martin & the Magpie where I attended a Dutch Still Life workshop.
The workshop was given by Martin, a Dutchman whose passion is flowers, and started with a talk on the history, meaning and significance of the Dutch Still Life painting....fascinating stuff. Then Martin demonstrated his take on the traditional still life, but with a modern twist.
Then it was my turn, what a joy! Completely out of my comfort zone, but with Martin's gentle guidance and encouragement, I don't think I made too bad a job of it!

I certainly enjoyed doing it, so lovely to have such a vast variety of flowers and foliage to play with.
A scrumptious lunch was provided by Kay aka Ma Magpie, who is one of those all round truly creative people, florist, artist, gardener, vintage treasure seeker, and she writes a really lovely blog. Is this the right path?

Emma joined us for lunch, she is Martin's wife, Kay's daughter and is also known as Vintage Magpie, it turns out that she has a shop on Etsy Vintage Magpie selling the most wonderful bridal bouquets made from vintage finds, beads, fabric and personal items from the bride.......gorgeous!

So really I felt so at home I didn't want to leave!
They have several other courses this year, just can't make up my mind which one to do. Perhaps if you are in the south east of England you'll join me for a great day out....See you there?
In the meantime have a wonderful week end

Friday Flowers

Some time ago I bought a Hydrangea plant covered in white blooms, this has been living in my sitting room quite happily, but as the weeks have gone on gradually the flowers have become more and more green. Strange but beautiful nevertheless.
My local florist bought these little urns back from Holland for me......I love them......thank you Chris!!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend

Collection No.3 Pony Club Cups

Alas I didn't win these, though it was always my dream as a small girl to own a pony.
You can also see that I don't like cleaning silver!

Friday Flowers

How did it get to be Friday again? Is it just me or are the days whizzing by even more quickly than usual now that we are approaching Autumn?
This week Cyclamen with the most beautiful markings like beaten silver on their leaves.

Have a wonderful weekend.
