Friday Flowers

This week seems to have passed by in a bit of a blur, I don't feel that I've achieved that much, though I did tidy my workroom and had some clear surfaces for about half an hour.

There was one sweet point this week, a surprise package from my dear friend Jen in America. So beautifully wrapped that I didn't want to open it, I really wish I had taken a photograph so that you could see the vintage hanky, the tiny gold brooch, the blue ostrich feather and veiling, the blue velvet leaves and the wide black ribbon and the antique calling card. But I did and inside was......

This shoe

The sweetest souvenir from Niagra, that I filled with Forget-me-nots which are blooming all over my garden.

Suddenly a few warmer days and everything is bursting into life, I love this time of year.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I will be taking photographs (hurrah) and cleaning the house (bleh).

Friday Flowers

Tuesday is my treasure hunting day, simply because this seems to be the day when my favourite Antique Fairs are held. This Tuesday saw me at Sandown Park Racecourse, not an early start for this one, 11 a.m. very civilized!
I found some nice small pieces for my Etsy shop.....yes I know I've been neglecting you dreadfully, soon I'll be listing new things I promise! And then I came across what must have been a house clearance stall. I found 4 silverplated tablespoons for £2.00. 2 blue and cream linen tea towels for £1.00 each. And a cream jug.

This cream jug.

Embossed with Ferns and Dog Roses, with a Gothic band around the bottom, two holes in the rim near the handle and a mark on the bottom that made no sense to me whatsoever.

Half an hour on the internet and I had found out quite a lot about it.
The design was registered on September 6th 1860, it was made by William Brownfield between 1871 and 1873 in the North Staffordshire Potteries. The holes in the rim would have held the hinges of a pewter lid.

Yes it has a small chip on the rim, its lid is missing.......but I think it's beautiful......about 140 years old and I paid the princely sum of £4.00, my find of the day!!

I hope you all find treasure of some kind this weekend, I'm off to attend another of my Sister's photography workshops.........so much to learn....but learn something I will, I always do!!

Friday Flowers

I can't resist the velvet faces of Pansies and their little sisters, Violas. This one had me at first glance....the colours!!..... russet and purple but with a touch of maroon, an edging of gold and a freckling of cream. Beautiful, subtle and soft and lovely against a grey linen cloth and concrete pot.

I'm out on Sunday with some girlfriends to a craft show.......It's an OAP outing.......don't know if I'm depressed that we now all qualify for concessionary tickets, or glad that we get a cheaper entrance fee!
I keep telling myself that age is all a matter of attitude, and I'm intent on ignoring it.....you are as old as you feel, it's just the mirror that lies!!!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend

Friday Flowers

I decided to go all cool and green this week.
A beautiful arching stem of Solomon's Seal, and what happens when you accidentally break the top off another stem? You put it in a Victorian Ink pot of course!

It's still freezing cold here, we had snow yesterday and the wind is bitter. I'm so fed up of wearing the same old winter clothes and fancied something new.......the shops are filled with swimsuits and tshirts.......hmmmm.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
