Friday Flowers

More roses this week in wonderful coppery tones that compliment the old copper coffee pot. In the background are pages from auction house ledgers dating from the 1880s to the 1920s. Not written in copperplate, but in a neat flowing hand using pen and ink.
This lovely rose is called Coffee Break so the coffee pot seems even more appropriate!

Childhood Treasures

I had a fantastic day treasure hunting yesterday, though the early start has taken its toll today! Why is it when I have set the alarm for 5.00am, I wake up at 3.45 and can't go back to sleep.......it was a very long day indeed.
I know I usually tempt you with twinkle and mother of pearl and medals, and yes I found all of these, some real beauties amongst them, but I wanted to share something else that I brought home. Battered, very well loved and obviously the centre of many tea parties, I just couldn't resist.

The snakes and ladders game came home with me as well.

I won't be doing my big listings on a Friday for the next couple of weeks, I have a really busy time at the moment, not least a big dollshouse miniatures show to prepare for. Friday Flowers

The most extraordinary rose its petals splashed with crimson and cream, the most complicated centre and bright green stamens.........breath taking blooms.

And in case you are wondering the rose is called Ranuncula.

Tuesday's Treasure Hunt

Funny how my favourite antique fairs are on a Tuesday. This week I went to Sandown Park for an indoor fair, alas the last of these for this year, I'll have to wait until January for the next one.

As you can see treasure was found! Appearing soon in my Etsy shop Beau Papier.

Friday Flowers

Narcissus in October? I know the seasons have been a bit strange of late, but when I saw these I thought I had slept through the entire Winter and Spring was here!

Alas no, but I can never resist the scent of these little flowers, out of season or not. As I sit here writing this their wonderful perfume is wafting over my shoulder.....intoxicating.

Tuesday's Treasure

I had a really good morning treasure hunting at my favourite antiques fair yesterday. A clutch of mother of pearl, paste, rosaries, medals, a few small tins and a cut out photograph of Edward V111 when he was Prince of Wales and visited Singapore in 1922, long before Mrs Simpson came on the scene!

All this will be listed in Beau Papier's Etsy shop in the coming weeks, hope these pictures whet your appetite!

Personal Treasure

This morning's visit to one of my favourite antiques fairs didn't reveal very much in the way of treasure for Beau Papier, but I found a new addition to my dressmaker's dummy collection, the small linen covered one on the wooden stand.

I couldn't believe my luck......and I nearly missed her!....I was so busy concentrating on the table top that only a last minute glance at eye level found her in my sights, and at a bargain price too. I can't tell you how delighted I am!
Well you have probably guessed as here she is for you to share.

Friday Flowers

Clematis in a little blue and white transfer print pot I found in a charity shop. I loved the shape, the romantic landscape and the peacock.

But the biggest surprise is how lovely Clematis is as a cut flower. I rescued these stems from the still life arrangement I showed you last week, and they are still going strong, the buds are opening and there is no sign of wilting.

So in future if you have clematis in your garden, this I think is a late flowering variety, then give a few stems a try indoors where you can appreciate their flowers in detail.
